Children’s Activities

Jesus said ‘Let the little children come to me.’

We believe that God sees children as precious and wonderful and we want to reflect his belief in our activities and care for them here at St Barnabas.

                         Childrens Activities

On a Sunday

On Sundays we have regular groups for children. These run during our 10am service.

We usually start all together in the main Church worship space and then for part of the service the children go to explore the Christian faith in fun age appropriate ways led by trained and approved leaders. Whether visitors or regular attenders, all children are welcome to join in. The children return before we share Holy Communion together.

The Sunday groups for children and young people are:

  • A crèche which is available for babies and smaller children and you are welcome to use this at any point during the service. We ask that you stay with your child in crèche please.
  • Junior Church which is for children in school years reception to 6
  • Sunday Youth which is for young people in school years 7 to 11

For more information please contact Jane Cox on 07982 100884

Once a month we hold an all-age service instead of going into our different groups. We hope that the service will reflect the interests of the various age groups who make up our church community.

At other times we have various special activities.

These include holiday clubs, a Light Parties (a positive alternative to Halloween) and Fun Days. Details of these are given as they are planned – see the events page or the Bulletin in Church.

Admission to Holy Communion

From the age of 7 upwards children are able to receive Holy Communion here at St Barnabas, if they have completed a period of preparation. If your child is not yet 7 or has not yet been prepared to received Holy Communion we will be delighted to pray for them at the altar rail. Please come with them to the rail with everyone else. For more information about being admitted to Holy Communion please speak to the Vicar on 020 8422 3775.
